Using The World Around You

Met up with NJ Dave this morning for a tour around Portland and to hear more about his plans and ideas for X-City Running, an organization he is putting together to "strengthen the running community while strengthening the community we run in."  We slid around the sidewalks and streets of the city and chatted and traded thoughts and ideas about how to create opportunities for those who may be challenged to find them.  Dave has some fantastic ideas and plans and more importantly, is actively working to push them forward.  I am hoping to be able to donate mental health counseling in some way and integrate it with the mission of using running to find and build a center for oneself.  We ran the periphery of the city and ended up with about 5.5 miles.  It was windy, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
I am forever impressed by our Trail Monster friends who grab onto what's important to them and make it happen - either in ultras, personal life, hobbies, goals, whatever - it's always an inspiration.

I just typed a comment and then it went away, so if this appears twice, let's just assume it's my overzealous nature going haywire. :> Sounds like a great run with great company. Trail Monsters rock! Can't wait to see X-City Running unfold its sweet mission across the lands.
