Squirrel on Tour

A better title might be my week of awesomeness.  Yesterday I ran with Jeremy at the Brad, today I got to run with Danielle in Brunswick on the famed Commons trail that she and Ryan often traverse.  We met up a little after 10 and it wasn't nearly as frigid as I was anticipating.  It was also great to know that the start place was just a few blocks away from where I work for my internship at Bowdoin - I was hoping to learn a local trail that I can do after work when I'm up there.  We headed off across a field and into the woods.  The trail was a tiny bit icy in some places, but didn't seem slippery even without screw shoes.  I tried to pay attention to the turns and Danielle showed me how the trails all kind of come back on each other so it's not too terribly hard to get too lost out there.  We chatted and caught up and it was nice to be out on a sunny clear late morning run.  Back at the parking area I had about 6.6 miles on my garmin.  I recently changed my settings so it no longer does the "auto pause" when I'm stopped as Val suggested that might be what's making my mileage so short.  Afterward we headed over to Frontier for a super yummy lunch that included one of my all time faves, the sweet potato french fry, yum!  Word has it that I might be able to try out ye olde snow shoes tomorrow...
